Aesthetic is a term imbued with meaning, yet difficult to quantify or define. Can a fish describe water?
You might take it for granted, if you’re not looking for it. It might be all around you, and you may never really register its existence—as was the case for many of us alive during the 80’s or early 90’s. It was simply the way things were.
Nowadays, we recognize aesthetic mainly because of its profound absence in our world today. Much like The Neverending Story, a “Nothing” of bland, boring, tepid imagery utterly absent of inspired design surrounds us more than ever before. At this point in human history, aesthetic is rare, and we know it when we see it. But we won’t try to limit it or label it or sort it into a prescribed box. It’s something one must experience.
NEON, as an event, aspires to be wholly immersive in its purest, most archetypal form. Perhaps someday, given adequate resources, it will realize its potential. For now, however, we bring you
ｔｈｅ ａｅｓｔｈｅｔｉｃ ｌｏｕｎｇｅ.
With reverence for this lofty concept, we seek to build a temple of aesthetic at the center of NEON for those who wish to be transported into a space that transcends centuries, time, mythology, and meaning: a place where you can come to remember and to forget.
Experience ancient computing machines and other salvaged examples of lost technology in a setting in which they might not seem to belong. Sail away on virtual seas of crystal clear irony and relax in a place that has never existed, but is all too familiar.
In 2018, we brought you the now infamous Yacht Rock Lounge. This is its inevitably weirder next level. Welcome to paradise?
